Ο οίκος αξιολόγησης Standard& Poors υποβάθμισε κατά μία βαθμίδα την πιστοληπτική διαβάθμιση της Ευρωπαϊκής Ενωσης, από "AAA" σε "AA+", επισημαίνοντας ότι οι συζητήσεις για τον προϋπολογισμό μεταξύ κρατών μελών γίνονται όλο και περισσότερο οξείες.

Η αξιολόγηση με "AA+" δίδεται με σταθερή προοπτική, πράγμα που σημαίνει ότι ο S&P δεν έχει την πρόθεση να μεταβάλει την αξιολόγησή του μεσοπρόθεσμα.
