Νέα φάση συνομιλιών για συνολική λύση του Κυπριακού αρχίζει τη Δευτέρα με συνάντηση του Προέδρου Αναστασιάδη με τον τουρκοκύπριο ηγέτη, Ντερβίς Έρογλου. Η συνάντηση είναι το αποτέλεσμα της αποδοχής και από τις δύο πλευρές σχεδίου κοινού ανακοινωθέντος, που προσδιορίζει τη βάση των συνομιλιών. 

Τη συνάντηση των ηγετών των δύο κοινοτήτων ανακοίνωσαν τα Ηνωμένα Έθνη και αυτή θα πραγματοποιηθεί στις 11:30 το πρωί στο παλιό αεροδρόμιο της Λευκωσίας, που βρίσκεται στη «νεκρή ζώνη». 

Η τουρκοκυπριακή πλευρά ανακοίνωσε ότι τον τουρκοκύπριο διαπραγματευτή Οσμάν Ερτούγ διαδέχεται ο Κουτρέτ Οζερσάϊ. Ο Ελληνοκύπριος διαπραγματευτής είναι ο Ανδρέας Μαυρογιάννης. Η τουρκοκυπριακή πλευρά είχε διακόψει τις συνομιλίες τον Ιούλιο του 2012, όταν η Κυπριακή Δημοκρατία ανέλαβε την προεδρία της ΕυρωπαΊκής Ένωσης.
