Σεισμική δόνηση μεγέθους 4,6 βαθμών της κλίμακας Ρίχτερ σημειώθηκε στις 13.45 στην Κοζάνη με το επίκεντρο του σεισμού να εντοπίζεται στο νοτιοανατολικό άκρο της λίμνης Πολυφύτου. Σύμφωνα με το Γεωδυναμικό του ΑΠΘ, ο σεισμός είναι επιφανειακός καθώς το εστιακό βάθος του είναι 10 χλμ.

Η δόνηση έγινε αισθητή σε όλη τη δυτική Μακεδονία καθώς και στη Θεσσαλονίκη.
