Μετά την υπογραφή της σύμβασης από τον Περιφερειάρχη Θεσσαλίας για την αναβάθμιση των Κ.Υ. Σοφάδων Παλαμά και Μουζακίου προϋπολογισμού 800.000 €  ο Δήμαρχος Σοφάδων Μπάμπης Παπαδόπουλος έκανε την εξής δήλωση:
 «Μας γεμίζει ικανοποίηση  η χθεσινή ανακοίνωση του Περιφερειάρχη Θεσσαλίας για τη συμβασιοποίηση  του έργου  της αναβάθμισης του Κ.Υ. Σοφάδων μαζί μ’ αυτό του Παλαμά και του Μουζακίου, το οποίο θα χρηματοδοτηθεί  απ’ το ΕΣΠΑ.
Ανταποκρινόμενη στα αιτήματά μας η Περιφέρεια κάνει το χρέος της. Δείχνει την ευαισθησία της και την ευθύνη της απέναντι στην κοινωνική ανάγκη για καλύτερες παροχές υγειονομικών υπηρεσιών.
Οι δήμοι ταυτόχρονα, αν και δεν είναι στο πεδίο της αρμοδιότητάς τους, καταβάλλουν καθημερινά κάθε δυνατή προσπάθεια ώστε να καλύψουν διάφορες αδυναμίες για την καλύτερη λειτουργία του συστήματος υγείας.
Εκείνο όμως που πρέπει από την άλλη πλευρά η πολιτεία να φροντίσει,  είναι να στείλει γιατρούς στα χωριά μας και στα Κέντρα Υγείας γιατί χωρίς αυτούς τα αναβαθμισμένα Κέντρα Υγείας και τα Αγροτικά Ιατρεία θα παραμένουν άχρηστα».
