Το Δημοτικό Συμβούλιο Καρδίτσας κατά την τελευταία συνεδρίασή του και στο άγγελμα του θανάτου του εκλεκτού ζωγράφου Γιώργου Γούλα εξέφρασε σύσσωμο την βαθιά του θλίψη. 

    Ο Γιώργος Γούλας σημάδεψε σχεδόν για έναν αιώνα  την κοινωνική και καλλιτεχνική φυσιογνωμία της Καρδίτσας αποτυπώνοντας με το πινέλο και την ευαισθησία που τον διέκρινε τον τόπο και την ιστορία του, αλλά και την καθημερινότητα των ανθρώπων του αφήνοντας μια πολύτιμη παρακαταθήκη για τις επόμενες γενιές.

    Η αγάπη του για τον τόπο του τον ώθησε να δωρίσει αρκετά από τα έργα του στη Δημοτική Πινακοθήκη Καρδίτσας  μέρος των οποίων εκτίθενται στην μόνιμη έκθεση έργων Καρδιτσιωτών καλλιτεχνών.

    Ως ελάχιστο φόρο τιμής στη μνήμη του ο Δήμος Καρδίτσας και ο Δημοτικός Οργανισμός Πολιστισμού Αθλητισμού θα οργανώσουν το προσεχές διάστημα μια μεγάλη έκθεση όλων των έργων του που ανήκουν στην συλλογή της Δημοτικής Πινακοθήκης
