Τηλεφωνική επικοινωνία με τον αντιπρόεδρο των ΗΠΑ, Μάικ Πενς, είχε ο Έλληνας πρωθυπουργός Αλέξης Τσίπρας, στο πλαίσιο της οποίας ο αντιπρόεδρος τον συνεχάρη για τη συμφωνία με την πΓΔΜ για την επίλυση του ζητήματος της ονομασίας της γείτονος.

Σύμφωνα με την ανακοίνωση του Γραφείου Τύπου του πρωθυπουργού, ο Αλέξης Τσίπρας υπογράμμισε τη σημασία που έχει η συμφωνία αυτή για τη σταθερότητα και την συνανάπτυξη στα Βαλκάνια.

Επιπλέον, ο πρωθυπουργός συζήτησε με τον αντιπρόεδρο των ΗΠΑ για την ενίσχυση των ελληνοαμερικανικών οικονομικών σχέσεων, ιδίως ενόψει της Διεθνούς Έκθεσης Θεσσαλονίκης, στην οποία τιμώμενη χώρα θα είναι οι ΗΠΑ, καθώς και για τις ελληνοτουρκικές σχέσεις και το ρόλο της Τουρκίας στην ευρύτερη περιοχή.
