Θλίψη στην τοπική κοινωνία των Χανίων έχει προκαλέσει η είδηση του θανάτου 20χρονου Χανιώτη από λεπτοσπείρωση.
Σύμφωνα με τον διευθυντή υγειονομικών υπηρεσιών του Νοσοκομείου Χανίων, νευροχειρουργό Γιώργο Αρχοντάκη, ο 20χρονος μεταφέρθηκε την Πέμπτη στο Νοσοκομείο Χανίων με έντονους πόνους στο στομάχι, αφού είχε αγγίξει με γυμνά χέρια ένα μολυσμένο ποντίκι.
Οι γιατροί διαπίστωσαν ότι ο νεαρός είχε εμφανίσει λεπτοσπείρωση, νόσος που μεταδίδεται από ποντίκια. Εισήχθη αμέσως στη Μονάδα Εντατικής Θεραπείας, ωστόσο εκδήλωσε υψηλό πυρετό και σηψαιμία και χθες βράδυ, παρά τις προσπάθειες των γιατρών, άφησε την τελευταία του πνοή.

Ο 20χρονος αγωνιζόταν στη θέση του τερματοφύλακα σε ομάδα της Α κατηγορίας του τοπικού ποδοσφαιρικού πρωταθλήματος Χανίων.
